The hardest part about being on the road for so long is that we miss spending time with our friends and family. It’s rough on Beth and myself, but it’s especially hard on Sophie and Sawyer. Sophie has said on more than one occasion that she misses her friends.
That’s what made the past weekend we spent with the Putnams even more special! We arranged to meet almost half way between Durham and the Quad Cities to spend some quality time and let the kids have fun. We settled on Cincinnati and Kings Island Amusement Park.
I had never heard of Kings Island before we started planning the trip, but it turned out to be a perfect park for us. It is pretty similar to Six Flags Great America in the quality of roller coasters. Plus they have an award winning kids area with lots of rides that all of the kids could enjoy.
Kings Island also has a fully functioning water park called Soak City. We only spent a few hours there on Sunday, but it was nice having a place to cool off when the temps got too hot.
The weekend went by way too quickly, but it was great seeing the Putnams. Sophie and Sawyer really enjoyed playing with their good friends Jayden and Josiah. Unfortunately the tradeoff to traveling is we don’t get to see our friends very often, so when we do, it makes for a really fun visit!
