The plan looked so good on paper. Live in Florida for September, October, November, and early December. Spend the holidays split between Boston and Tennessee. Then spend the first part of 2013 in Phoenix near my sister.
Unfortunately things might not play out exactly as planned. We are looking to start our next travel assignment the first week of September. One month out is when you can usually start applying for jobs.
The problem now is that we are at the point where we should start applying for jobs, but none of the jobs out there are really what we are looking for. The draw for Florida for us is Disney World. I was planning on getting season tickets to Disney and was going to spend a lot of our free time exploring everything there is to do in the Disney parks. But as of right now, the closest job we can get to Disney is about an hour and a half away.
Besides the hour and a half distance, the other negative working against the travel spots right now is that they are in small towns in the middle of nowhere. So there wouldn’t be much else to do besides Disney.
It is still fairly early to be applying for September jobs. We’ll see what next week brings. But if no new jobs in Florida come up we will probably have to choose between a not-so-appealing job or changing the plan completely and do somewhere like Colorado next.
This is how things work as a traveling nurse. The pickier you are, the more potential kinks you get. Luckily we can be pretty flexible. But hopefully we won’t have to totally scrap our plans.
