Grammie and Grampie visited us in Florida

Sophia, Beth, and Barbara on a boat tour of the Indian River Lagoon.

We just finished a great week visiting with Beth’s parents.  They arrived last Monday and yesterday they boarded a train headed back to Boston.  Sophie and Sawyer really enjoyed spending time with Grammie and Grampie!

Beth’s mom is a big fan of water, so we tried to spend lots of time enjoying the fresh ocean air.  We went to one of our favorite picnic spots, Fort Pierce Inlet State Park, and grilled some brats.  They have a nice playground and beach area to let the kids run around.

The highlight of the trip was a wildlife boat tour on Saturday.  We left the Fort Pierce Marina and went on an hour and a half tour of the Indian River Lagoon.  Unfortunately it is too early in the season to see manatees, but we did see lots of different kinds of birds.  It was nice to get out on the water and everyone really enjoyed it.

We also spent a lot of time at Jaycee Park.  It is our favorite park that we have found so far.  They have one of the biggest play structures I have ever seen.  Plus it is right on the beach.  It is on the side of the island facing away from the ocean, so it doesn’t get the huge waves that the ocean gets.  That allowed the kids to play in the water without us worrying too much.

I think it’s safe to say everyone had a great time this week.  Sophie and Sawyer were very sad to see Grammie and Grampie leave.  Luckily we don’t have to wait too long before Christmas time and then we will see them again.

It’s true, we both had a very good time with our 2 grandchildren and Beth and Chris!!! Hospitality galore! Water everywhere with pearly white powdered sand and tropical palm trees gently blowing in the constant breezes. Train ride down and back has a story in an of itself to tell. My buttock is still numb.
