Another hike at Lost Dutchman State Park

This morning Beth and I took the kids on a hike at Lost Dutchman State Park.  Lost Dutchman State Park is about 40 minutes from our apartment and part of the Superstition Mountains.

According to legend, the Lost Dutchman Gold Mine is a very rich gold mine hidden somewhere in the mountains near Apache Junction.  People still search for the lost mine, but nobody has ever found it.  Most people believe it doesn’t exist.

Unfortunately we didn’t find any gold either, just a lot of rocks and cactus.  We had a good hike though.  We neglected to look at the weather before we left and didn’t realize how cold it was.  The cold, combined with complaining kids, meant we weren’t able to hike quite as far as we wanted.  But it’s always nice to get out into nature, so Beth and I had a good time!
