We are right in the middle of the third session at camp. That means we only have three weeks left before our time at Chinqueka will be done. It’s amazing how fast the summer flies by!
The kids are still having a really good time. Sophia is having fun at her day camp of Eagle Rock and then coming to Chinqueka at nights and on weekends. It’s neat watching her do things that are outside of her comfort zone. The first week at Eagle Rock she took a zipline ride across a pond. About a week ago, she went to the top of the climbing tower. Don’t get me wrong, her favorite activity is still Arts & Crafts. But she has done dance, fencing, cooking, ceramics, photography, and a ton of other activities. I wish I went to summer camp as a kid!
Last Friday we had a nice day off in Boston. We dropped Sophie and Sawyer off with Grammie and Grampie Stanton. Then Beth and I took a few counselors into downtown Boston to do some sightseeing. Even through Beth’s parents live about a half hour outside the city, it’s been about 10 years since we have done anything touristy.
We went on a historical tour of Harvard University, visited the Boston bombing site, walked a bit of the Freedom Trail, and finished our day at Faneuil Hall Marketplace.
Since we only have about three weeks left of camp, the natural question is where are we headed next. As of now that is still to be determined. Our top destination in mind is Hawaii. That would be an awesome experience to live in Hawaii for a few months, but it would also bring a bunch of different challenges. Plus the cost of living would be pretty steep. Colorado is probably next on the list. We are just now getting into the time where we can start to look for jobs, so hopefully within the next couple of weeks we will have our next destination lined up.
