On the road again, but no final destination yet

I am writing this from snowy Kansas City.  We just stopped for the night after about nine hours of driving on the way to my parents house in Tennessee.

We had a really busy last few days in Denver.  We managed to sell almost all of our furniture on Craigslist, and even made more money than we spent.  We seemed to acquire more things than we normally do, so there was some doubt over whether or not all of our stuff would fit into the two cars.  Luckily, it wasn’t a problem at all.  I guess after doing it four previous times, we have gotten pretty good at packing.

We still don’t know where we are headed next after the holidays.  Our plan was California, but the slow moving California Nursing Board has caused us to look elsewhere.  Beth still isn’t officially licensed in California. With the speed of the board, it’s anyone’s guess how long it could actually take.

It was looking like Galveston, Texas was likely, but that job was pulled right when we applied for it.

We have applied for a job in Houston, so that might work out.  California could still surprise us and process Beth’s license in time to work there.  Otherwise, we have a few other options we are looking at.  For now, we are looking forward to some relaxing down time over Christmas.  Happy Holidays!

  1. Hi Beth,
I got my license in california with a lot of phone calling. If you have all your things in and just waiting for process. Keep calling. Thats what everyone said to do. Keep pressing different buttons until you speak with live person. If you know your evaulator ask for them. If you dont get anywhere call again and ask to speak to their supervisor. I had to call so many times and it payed off. I startd cintract after waiting 8 wks. It took additional 2 wks of calling. Call me if you want to chat. Live reading the blogs:)

    • Thanks Kathy! I’ll be sure Beth sees this. I know she has tried calling and emailing, but she hasn’t had any luck getting ahold of anyone. Just need to keep trying!
